8 Ways to Attract More Visitors to Your Exhibition Stand

How can you attract more visitors to your exhibition stand? As we all know, exhibitions are extremely busy environments where everyone is fighting for visitors attention. It’s crucial your brand or offering gets noticed and your stand is kept busy by keeping visitors engaged! We’ve written this post to help inspire some new ideas on how you can attract more visitors to your exhibition stand:

1. DESIGN: Create an exhibition stand that’s going to stand out and get people’s attention. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need to go bigger or spend more, some of the most eye-catching exhibition stands are small and made from low-cost cardboard – but they look completely different to the other stands exhibiting. See how our exhibition stand design can get your brand noticed.

2. WORKSHOPS & SEMINARS: Sharing knowledge at a workshop and seminar is an excellent marketing tool that helps establish you as a true expert that people trust. Get in touch with the event organisers prior to the event and find out if there are any spaces available to lead a seminar. Then pick a topic that will interest a lot of people and deliver some great content. At the end of the seminar you’ll be given a small amount of time to plug your brand and offering and direct more footfall to your stand for more info.

3. POSITIONING: Place your exhibition stand in an area with a good footfall that will be visible to as many people as possible. Make sure you agree on which stand position you have when arranging with the event organisers – filling event space is massively important to the organisers so don’t be affraid to use positioning as a negoation or leveraging tool to get the location you want!

4. SEATING: Make your visitors feel comfortable and offer them somewhere to sit and relax whilst finding out more about your product or service. Remember, these guys will have been on their feet all day too so they’ll be likely to appreciate some comfortable seating.

5. ENTERTAINMENT: What entertainment options would work with your brand cohesively? Maybe you could incorporate a game into your stand to engage people? It’s all about creating something interactive to keep people interested. Competitions can be a great way of doing this and generating leads in the process. Another ideas include adding photo booths and sporting games, like the interactive example shown below.

6. SOCIAL MEDIA: Use the power of social media to attract more visitors to your exhibition stand. Twitter can be a great tool for this, as you can use the event hashtags to let people know where you are! For example, you could tweet: “Hey, we can help you! Come say hello at stand X12 at the #NECBB event!”. Visitors at the event will be more likely to see this, especailly if they’re following the #NECBB hastag. You can take this one step further with the introduction of Twitter ads, which allow you to target anyone based on a hastag they may tweet. For example, you could target your ad to appear on anyone’s feed who has tweeded #NECBB.

7. LIGHTING: You’d be suprised the difference that good lighting can make on your stand. There are several different types of lights you can add to help you get noticed too, these include spot lights, down lights, up lights. It’s important you understand what elements of your stand need to stand out and ensure your stand builer is aware of this. The below example shows a good way of using lighting to change the mood of the envirnonment.

8. STAFFING: Make sure all your staff are trained and know your business inside-out. It’s also worth incentivising staff to achieve more sales and signups etc. Even if all you need is email signups, you could add some healthy competition by giving staff member who gets the most a prize at the end of the exhibition. Remember, if staffing your exhibition is proving difficult, we can help – we have relationships with event staffing agencies who will have fully trained event staff that can help get your brand noticed!

During the event its also a great idea to set some KPIs and goals. After the exhibition, other team members are going to want to know how it went, sharing some KPIs will really help people see the value in exhibiting. For example, this exhibition we collected 50 new email addresses from customers. Tracking these KPIs will help you understand which exhibtions worked and which didn’t.
